Queensland operator takes the keys to Brown and Hurley’s 19,000th Kenworth

Wickham Freight Lines has received its latest milestone truck – marking Brown and Hurley’s 19,000th Kenworth delivery.

The renowned transport operator as it is known today, started over 30 years ago, but has roots that date decades earlier.

The story of Wickham Freight Lines started when brothers Peter and Angus Wickham purchased a brand new Kenworth in 1978 to transport potatoes from their family farm.

Continued growth saw the brothers officially establish Wickham Freight Lines in 1992.

Still family owned and operated, Wickham Freight Lines is now in its third generation.

Wickham’s Freight Lines has become the proud owner of many milestone trucks from dealer Brown and Hurley, starting with the purchase of Brown and Hurley’s 1000th Kenworth in 1986, in the form of a W900.

That was when Angus made an agreement with Jim ‘JJ’ Hurley that the business take delivery of every 1000th Kenworth sold by Brown and Hurley.

By September 2024, Wickham Freight Lines took delivery of the 18,000th Kenworth sold by the dealer, a T659. Now, this month, Wickham Freight Lines proudly takes the keys to Brown and Hurley 19,000th Kenworth.

Brown and Hurley took to socials to share the news, calling the occasion “a huge achievement for our team and an ongoing partnership we’re incredibly proud of.”

The dealer continued, “A big thank you to Wickham Freight Lines for their continued support. True to tradition, WFL has once again taken delivery of every 1000th Kenworth sold by Brown and Hurley — including this landmark 19,000th truck!”

Wickham Freight Lines also thanked JJ for taking part in yet a milestone handover. “Amazing achievement! Well done everyone! We’re very sure Angus Wickham would be very proud. He first made this agreement with Jim when purchasing the first 1000th! He’d be proud of our longevity, partnership and commitment we have today.”
